Our 5K Walk/Run is a fundraiser event to benefit the tri-champion Breast Cancer Foundation.
We are the heartbeat and the helping hand in THE fight AGAINST TRIPLE-NEGATIVE breast cancer.
About 10-20% of breast cancers are triple-negative breast cancers. For doctors and researchers, there is intense interest in finding new medications that can treat this kind of breast cancer. Studies are trying to find out whether certain medications can interfere with the processes that cause
triple-negative breast cancer to grow.
We are dedicated to raising public awareness, supporting research and providing meaningful programs and services to the TNBC community.
Your donation will help us fund critical TNBC research and provide resources and support for the TNBC community.
Several studies suggest that being premenopausal or of African ancestry increases your risk of developing basal-like or triple-negative breast cancer. Among African American women who develop breast cancer, there is an estimated 20 to 40 percent chance of breast cancer being triple-negative. Researchers do not yet understand why premenopausal women and women in some ethnic groups have higher rates of triple-negative breast cancer than other groups of women.
Together with your doctor, you will decide on a treatment plan for your triple-negative breast cancer based on a variety of factors such as tumor size, tumor grade, and whether cancer has traveled to your lymph nodes or other parts of your body. Standard treatment options for triple-negative breast cancer include chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation.
When you are first diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer you will most likely have many questions and concerns. In addition to your medical team, we are here to help guide you through that process by providing information, resources, and support.
It can be upsetting and scary to find out that you’ve been diagnosed with a type of breast cancer that is often more aggressive than other types and isn’t a good candidate for treatments that target the hormone receptors or HER2 protein.
Still, it’s important to remember that the lack of hormone receptors and excess HER2 protein are just two factors that you and your doctor will take into consideration when deciding on a treatment plan.
The stage and grade of the cancer are also crucial to your prognosis.
It’s also important to remember there are therapies available that can treat triple-negative breast cancer.
